Starting from today, 26 November 2018, it will be possible to make simple cash withdrawals at the more than 900 k kiosk and Press & Books points of sale in Switzerland using an app. This is made possible by a partnership between Valora and the Zurich-based fintech company Sonect.

Download the Sonect app, register, enter the desired amount and have the bar code scanned – it will now be this simple for customers of k kiosk and Press & Books to withdraw cash. The service from Valora and Sonect will be available from 26 November 2018 at all 900 k kiosk and Press & Books points of sale.

Customers do not incur any costs or fees for the transaction at the Valora point of sale and the amount is debited to their saved bank account after payment. At the moment, this service can be used by account holders at Sonect's contract banks. Sonect also allows users to withdraw cash using a credit card at no cost.

“Thanks to the partnership with Valora, we will be able to expand our service across Switzerland and offer users of our app cash withdrawals at highly attractive locations,” explains Rik Krieger, co-founder of the start-up Sonect. What most impresses Valora about the Sonect service is that it offers customers significant added value without entailing any investment costs for the points of sale.

Win-win situation

“Through the collaboration with Sonect, Valora is meeting the strong need of customers to be able to withdraw cash wherever they are in addition to the ability to make cashless payments,” says Oliver Kneier, Head of Retail Service Projects at Valora Switzerland. With this innovative solution, Valora is once more positioning itself at the interface between the analogue and digital worlds. Valora will continue to utilise the technical opportunities offered by digitilisation and develop innovative services.
