25.11.2013 / 16:00 /

With the Mobile Aid campaign, SOS-Children's Village, Valora and Swisscom are once again collecting mobile phones for a good cause. Old mobile phones and ones that are no longer needed can be handed in at all k kiosk outlets between 25 November and 15 December 2013.

Today, there are an estimated 8 million mobile phones in Switzerland that are no longer needed and are lying around in Swiss drawers. With the “Swisscom Mobile Aid” mobile phone collecting campaign, which is taking place throughout Switzerland, these mobile phones are turned into a donation for SOS-Children's Village projects. The goal is to collect more than 100,000 mobile phones and thus to enable school days, help for self-help, warm meals and childcare.

Mobile phones can be handed in at all Swiss k kiosk outlets and every Swisscom Shop until the 15th of December 2013. As in the previous year, Valora Logistics (nilo) will be organising the return transport of the donated mobile phones, whereat 100,000 mobiles phones were collected in the last year and the Swisscom Mobile Aid partners would like to build on the successes to date.

The phones are sorted in the social organisation Réalise in Switzerland and carefully processed for resale. In the course of this, all personal data is deleted and defective mobiles are discarded in an environmentally friendly manner in Switzerland. Mobile phones that are still functional are subsequently resold on the international market for used mobile phones.

The proceeds from the sold mobile phones benefit SOS-Children's Villages, -Schools as well as SOS-Social Centres.
