With the dual study programme, Valora combines theory and practice and offers students the best career prospects as well as financial independence.
Valora cooperates with universities in Switzerland and Germany to offer students in business studies the opportunity to engage in training directly related to the foodvenience business. Valora offers one to two study places every year.
Switzerland
Valora offers basic commercial training in the three profiles B, E and M.

Valora offers you both in cooperation with the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) at Lörrach.

You will do the following
- Become familiar with our different areas and sales formats as well as important contact people and interfaces
- Undergo practical training in professional, methodological and social skills through diverse assignments in projects and daily business operations
- Work in different departments with varying focus areas including human resources, finance and marketing
- Engage in cross-sectoral cooperation and enjoy the opportunity to develop a comprehensive network

Your training could be structured as follows
1st stage
Department: Marketing Contents: e.g. optimisation of communication at the sales outlet Duration: about three months 2nd stage
Department: Corporate Information Services Contents: e.g. optimisation of delivery and article master data Duration: about three months 3rd stage
Department: Controlling Contents: e.g. report optimisation Duration: about three months 4th stage
Department: Human Resources Contents: e.g. master data analysis Duration: about three months 5th stage
Department: Valora Digital Contents: e.g. needs analysis for customers Duration: about three months 6th stage
Department: In consultation with the students Contents: Selected department or immersion in a department with a view to potential career entry or the possibility of a placement abroad Duration: about three months -
Your profile
- Matura/Abitur school-leaving certificate (with good to very good results)
- Past placements or temporary jobs desirable (ideally in retail or food services)
- Exceptional commitment an advantage
- Willingness to learn and perform
- Team spirit and social skills
- Good communication skills
- Confident delivery in German, plus sound knowledge of English and French an advantage

The Dual study offers
The 3.5-year dual study programme consisting of alternating theoretical and practical modules provides students with professional and practical training that hones their subject, methodological and social skills.
Die Praxisphasen werden am Hauptsitz von Valora Retail Deutschland in Hamburg in unterschiedlichen Abteilungen durchgeführt. Die Studierenden bekommen unter anderem Einblicke in die Bereiche Human Resources, Marketing, Controlling und Category Management. Zusätzlich absolvieren sie Arbeitseinsätze in verschiedenen Verkaufsformaten von Valora, um das operative Geschäft kennen zu lernen.
The practical modules are done in different departments at headquarter of Valora Retail Germany in Hamburg. Students are given an insight into such areas as human resources, marketing, controlling and category management. In addition, they are deployed to different Valora sales formats where they get to know the operating side of the business.
