Trainee programme

The Valora trainee programme is an entry-level training and development programme for qualified university graduates. The aim is the sustainable promotion of young talent over the long term.

The trainees prepare for a year for future roles in the retail sector. The trainee programme has been firmly established at Valora since 2008. During the initiation phase, trainees acquire an insight into our company's different areas and sales formats. They also get to know all the important experts and interfaces, thus developing a network. The focus of the trainee programme is on-the-job training accompanied by individually selected training measures.



Start: 1 September

Through the Valora trainee programme, we make a long-term and sustainable contribution to promoting young talent. We offer you a platform to launch your career as a potential specialist and manager.

You will do the following

  • Become familiar with the different areas and sales formats as well as important contact people and interfaces
  • Develop specialist and managerial competence through diverse assignments in projects and daily business operations
  • Gain experience in two to three departments with a focus on different areas (a placement abroad is also possible)
  • Engage in cross-sectoral cooperation and enjoy the opportunity to develop a comprehensive network

Your training could be structured as follows

Initiation programme

Department: Different departments incl. working in sales outlets or shadowing the sales managers
Contents: Become familiar with the different areas and sales formats as well as important contact people and interfaces

1st stage

Department: Retail projects
Contents: e.g. optimisation of an ordering process
Duration: Four months

2nd stage

Department: Retail Service Project
Contents: e.g. introduction of a new product
Duration: Four months

3rd stage

Department: Valora Digital
Contents: e.g. needs analysis for customers
Duration: Four months

Your profile

  • Degree from a university or a university of applied sciences, preferably in business administration, trade, logistics, personnel, business informatics or similar within the past two years
  • Initial professional experience from placements during your course of study
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Ambition and an entrepreneurial mindset, plus a can-do attitude
  • Team spirit and social skills
  • Confident delivery in German, plus good knowledge of English and French an advantage
