Monika Zander will assume the management of the Food Service Switzerland business unit of Valora from September 2019. In this role, she will be responsible for Brezelkönig, Caffè Spettacolo, BackWerk Switzerland as well as SuperGuud and join the extended Group Executive Management.

Thomas Eisele, Group Executive Management member and CEO of the Food Service division, has been managing Food Service Switzerland on an interim basis since January 2019. With effect from September 2019, Monika Zander will assume responsibility for this business unit which is strategically important due to growing demand for food on-the-go. Valora acquired SuperGuud in January 2019 and currently operates three sales outlets in Zurich and Basel.

Monika Zander is joining Valora from Coop, where she spent the past five years managing a sales group of about 800 employees and deputised for the Head of the Northwest Switzerland-Central Switzerland-Zurich sales region. Before that, she spent six years as Regional Head of Sales at Interdiscount, where the 50-year-old Swiss native developed her managerial and leadership remit in a number of sales-oriented roles following the completion of her apprenticeship. Monika Zander holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Applied Sciences in Business Administration Zurich (HWZ).

Thomas Eisele, CEO of the Food Service division of Valora, said: “We are very pleased to have recruited Monika Zander for this important position. She has extensive retail experience with excellent knowledge of the food and convenience business. She also has a proven management track record with wide-ranging knowledge of the relevant Swiss competitive environment.”
